Not for nuthin'…. But….. Sunday came up gorgeous. The patchy frost is burning off, the wind has finally laid down, and Marblehead's headed for a sunny high near 53. Monday looks even nicer. Here's how four corners of New England looked around 7:35 this morning.
Marblehead Harbor (BYC Oceanfront) — Now that's more like it. A big low sun is pouring gold across the water, the sky is clear blue, and the harbor is glassy calm with the boats still sitting on their moorings. A light southwest breeze at best today.
Mount Washington North View — Still wearing its ice coat. The summit cam is caked in rime again this morning, so no view, but the Rockpile is in for sunshine, a high near 35 and a wind chill as low as zero early. Lighter winds up top for once, gusting around 30.
Great Eddy Covered Bridge, Waitsfield — A soft pink sunrise over the Mad River Valley. The bridge, the old farmhouse and the river are calm and quiet, a big red maple is still blazing on the bank, and the rest of the trees are mostly bare. Sunny with a high near 55.
Bartlett Experimental Forest, NH — The snow-shower haze is gone. From the NEON tower, early sun is warming the mountaintops, and the canopy below is a patchwork of rust, gold and orange mixed in with the evergreens. Sunny and near 53 in the White Mountains valleys today.
