New England This Morning — October 10, 2026

Not for nuthin'…. But….. Saturday kicks off the long holiday weekend with a beauty of a sunrise on the coast. Marblehead Harbor is glowing gold, Mount Washington's camera is frosted over again, and the Mad River Valley is still hanging on to its fall color.

Marblehead Harbor (BYC Oceanfront) — The sun is just up over the left side of the harbor, throwing a gold glow across a mostly clear sky with a few thin, wispy clouds. The water is about as calm as it gets, glassy with barely a ripple, and the moorings are still dotted with boats. The dinghies are lined up on the Boston Yacht Club float, ready for anyone getting an early start.

Mount Washington North View — Once again, no view from the summit. The lens is caked with rime ice and snow, so the whole frame is a grey, frosty blur. The Rockpile is already living in winter.

Great Eddy Covered Bridge, Waitsfield — Soft early light under a pale, mostly clear sky. The Mad River is still and dark, mirroring the bridge, the farmhouse and the trees, and the bank is a mix of bright red maples, orange and gold leaves, and a few trees that have already gone bare.

MOAM Out.
