Boston Sports Morning Report — Wednesday, Nov. 4

Boston Sports Morning Report

Not for nuthin'…. But….. Tuesday was a quiet one around Boston, with no Celtics, no Bruins and no Pats, so the only thing that moved was your remote. Wednesday brings the Celts back to the Garden tonight at 7:30 against a Milwaukee team that's 1-6 and looking for any kind of spark. Nothing's ever a gimme in the NBA, so I'm expecting a full 48 minutes out of the green.

Short version: Celtics tonight, the B's in Pittsburgh Thursday at 7:00, the Pats hosting Green Bay Sunday afternoon, and the Sox still in hot-stove mode.

New England Patriots

  • Yesterday: No game (last game: W 24-19 @ Miami on Sun., Nov. 1)
  • Today: No game
  • Next: Sun., Nov. 8, 4:25 PM ET, vs Green Bay Packers (home, FOX)
  • Standings: 5-3, 2nd in the AFC East, 1.5 games behind Buffalo (6-1), No. 7 in the AFC (last wild-card spot)
  • Schedule note: After Green Bay it's Sun., Nov. 15 at Detroit (the Munich game, 9:30 AM ET kickoff), and the bye is in Week 11

Hunter Henry's foot is the thing to watch. Coach Vrabel said Monday he had no expectations yet, and the first injury report of the week comes out today. Foxborough on a Sunday afternoon against the Packers should be a good one.

Boston Celtics

  • Yesterday: No game (last game: L 109-93 @ Houston on Mon., Nov. 2)
  • Today: Wed., Nov. 4, 7:30 PM ET, vs Milwaukee Bucks (home, NBC Sports Boston)
  • Next: Fri., Nov. 6, 7:00 PM ET, @ Charlotte Hornets (NBA Cup, NBC Sports Boston)
  • Standings: 5-2, 2nd in the Atlantic, 1.5 games behind Philadelphia (7-1), No. 3 in the East

The Celts got a day off after that Houston loss, and now they have three games in five days: Milwaukee tonight, Charlotte Friday, then back out to Milwaukee on Sunday night. Plenty of chances to get right.

Boston Bruins

  • Yesterday: No game (last game: W 3-2 SO vs Vegas on Mon., Nov. 2)
  • Today: No game
  • Next: Thu., Nov. 5, 7:00 PM ET, @ Pittsburgh Penguins (NESN)
  • Standings: 11-4-1, 23 points, 1st in the Atlantic (2 points up on Montreal), No. 2 in the East, 3 points behind Carolina (12-3-2, 26 points)

The B's are 7-2-1 in their last ten and start a road trip in Pittsburgh. The Penguins are 5-8-2, but nobody ever calls a trip to PPG Paints Arena easy. Matthew Poitras is listed day-to-day.

Boston Red Sox

  • Yesterday / Today: No games, offseason
  • Next: 2027 Opening Day is Thu., March 25, @ Seattle Mariners; home opener Thu., April 1, vs Cincinnati
  • Final standings: 87-75, 3rd in the AL East, lost the AL Wild Card round to the Yankees

Hot-stove season on Jersey Street. Pitchers and catchers can't come soon enough.

That's the Wednesday board. Celts at 7:30 tonight, so grab your seat. See you tomorrow for the B's in Pittsburgh.

MOAM Out.
