I was leafing through the "Autobography of Malcolm X" the other day, as I was preparing to send it along with piles of other long forgotten books to the book bin at the town library. I opened to the section on the death of John Kennedy. Malcolm X had yet to take his haj at that point, and was a cold dude. He stated that the violent death of President Kennedy was "the chickens coming home to roost", as in it was bound to happen based on the violent nature of US society, of white society.
Without judging the merits of his position, I like the turn of phrase, "chickens coming home to roost". You reap what you sow. You plant ice, you harvest wind.
The chickens are coming home to roost.
