People - hire good people and empower them
Process - Create valid processes to progressively reduce actual management activity - some call this continuous improvement - I call it never miss a fastball down and in - it works
Tools - give and have an eye toward tools that enable execution and improvement of processes
Items 2 and 3 are Fool's Gold without the first.
