So far, I've lost 4 lbs this week. The goal is to lose 2.5 lbs. a week until April 21, 2008, which will get me in the 180 lb range. So if you are twisted enough to wonder what I weigh now, you do the freaking math. I choose to keep focusing Progressively on the future.
~
As far as the anonymous commenter who tabbed me as the "Round Mound of Telecom".... if you have the gonads to disclose your true identity, you are a shoo in for POTW this Thurs.

POTW Week 40
Nanepashemet Telecom has a construction job around Sebago Lake in Maine, so I'm working out of North Conway today. No difference. Mountains here, ocean in Marblehead.... it's all good. It's interesting that you don't need a General Contractor's license in Maine. NH and VT are the same way.
~
Massachusetts requires a Construction Supervisor's license and a Home Improvement Contractor's license if you work on private residential construction. I have had both for years and they have come in handy. But now, with all of the construction that we are involved with for Nanepashemet, they are crucial.

POTW Week 39
Even though it was a slow day, we still closed out one carrier order, opened another, and continued the Coast Guard work in Maine. So maybe it wasn't that slow.

* Automatic Lagavulin Rule.
This would be so much easier if more of you would just buy me a bottle of Lagavulin Single Malt Scotch like that mountain of a man, Bobby Brown. Then I wouldn't have to think. Course I'd probably be too sloshed to think, with all that Lagavulin around. So maybe we have reached a kind POTW selection equilibrium.

Common Courtesy
It's already Thursday. Let the hysteria begin.
~
Before you start uselessly sending me your POTW selections, could you please review the selection criteria????
To become a Nanepashemet Peep of the Week, the lucky/unfortunate candidate will be measured as follows:
So even though it is highly unlikely that I would pick anyone that you recommend, you could at least have the courtesy to recommend someone who is eligible for selection.

To become a Nanepashemet Peep of the Week, the lucky/unfortunate candidate will be measured as follows:
- The candidate has to have done something annoying, stupid or inspirational in the past weeks.
- Animals and dead people are not eligible.
- The gift of Lagavulin to me within the last week is an automatic selection.
So even though it is highly unlikely that I would pick anyone that you recommend, you could at least have the courtesy to recommend someone who is eligible for selection.

Skunked Again
Waiting for Dog and Lec to show for the fishing trip, I put in two hours on the dory, sanding the bottom and laying out the frame templates. Cumulative now is 7 hours.
~
Dog showed up to fish with a bottle of Lagavulin. You know what that means???? An Automatic POTW selection. I love it. He also was very considerate in bringing an ample amount of Guinness to last for the three of us during our sporting event.
~
Btw, we didn't see any blitzes, and had no strikes. That's right... we were skunked. Live with it.

Peep of the Week for Week 38
So you all thought that I would forget the POTW selection.
~
You Crazy, Kooky, Whacky Bastards!!!
~
I'm 100% on my game. Solid as a Rock. Steady as a Priest in the Altar Boy's lockerroom.
~
Ok... scratch the last one. But no way could I forget. We've been doing this for over 50 Thursdays in a row. It's become more than a habit... more like a religious ritual. I approach it with the utmost reverence and respect.

POTW Week 37
Mid-September.
There is a theory that time passes quicker, the older you get. Not sure how this would be validated, but it sure seems on the mark.
Lots of great stuff happened this week. Weddings, Births, Purchase Orders, the Debut of Dory Construction. Some things still irk the hell out of me, but you have to love the good stuff.

Wedding Hype
Tina James and Colin Rhodes are getting married tomorrow. I know that the Peeps expect me to attend all of their weddings, but I can only do so much.
~
Murph last week and Tina this week were special Peeps though, who did a lot of hanging around Beverly Ave. while they were growing up. Just because I am attending these weddings doesn't make me official wedding invitation bait. I would go to their weddings even if they were not POTW alumni.
~
I don't know the Rhodes family, but Tina's family is really great, and I'm looking forward to the Saturday nuptials. Plus Katelyn is a bridesmaid, and I have some cool new dance moves to try out on her at the reception.
~
Plus the huge rumor is that Lindsay Kepnes is in town for the event. How great is that!!!

POTW Week 35
The ride back from Albany was torture.
We had barbeque with the customer, and whatever I ate decided to have an immediate party in my intestines.
A lesser man would have pulled over to the side of the road and called it quits, but I gamely hit my own bathroom in Marblehead at 11:30 PM last night with no messy incidents.

Emotional Response
Peeps -
Enough of the congrats on the Blog anniversary!!!
~
I would never have mentioned it if I thought that everyone was going to get so sappy and emotional.
~
It's just a blog....
~
You've got to find more substance in your lives.
Speaking of which, the POTW selections may be delayed this evening because I have to attend a business dinner in Albany, NY.... then drive all the way back to Marblehead. Not to panic though, because this weeks nominations are not too difficult. As aways, I am open to your suggestions for selection, and will continue to ignore most of them.

Off Handed
At Murph's Wedding, Jeremy Johnson, an Attorney living in Minnesota, said that he found the Nanepashemet Blog to be surprisingly insightful.
~
I'm still trying to understand if that was a compliment.
~
Course Murph is a loyal Peep, but I was also intrigued to see all of the people at the wedding who knew the significance of being named a POTW.

Peep of the Week - Week 34
Peep of the Week day.
~
People shouldn't get so worked up about it.
~
It's just another day.
~
So why all the hubbub???, why all the dither????, why all the rigamarole????
~
It's only Thursday, Peep of the Week Day.
~
I suppose that if I didn't have the heavy and aching responsibility of selecting the POTW, I would get all hot and bothered too.

POTW - Week 33
My day ended exactly as I wanted. We nailed the big meeting and it is full speed ahead from here.
~
With Joanne in North Conway, I was looking for a celebratory dinner, but didn't have her finesse in preparation.
~
So I went with the old standby, my famous buffalo wings which I supplemented with some canned oysters that I fried with the wings. The accompanying vegetable was two slices of swiss cheese. Combined with a couple or three Dark and Stormies, and the rest was pig out heaven.
~
Now for the real matter at hand.

T-Shirt Phenomonon
I ordered some T-shirts for Nanepashemet Project Management today.
~
It always amazes me how effective shirts can be as customer or vendor giveaways. Grown professionals, who sport varied accomplishments and command substantial salaries, get all excited when you give them a free shirt. I know I do.
~
If business keeps up at the current rate, we'll be handing out plenty of Nanepashemet T-Shirts.
~
Which gives me an idea.....
~
How much do you think people would pay for a POTW shirt??? The demand would probably be so high that I'd have to go to Asian manufacturers to handle the volume. Peeps would be hanging around my house worse than a Harry Potter book release.
~
It probably wouldn't be worth the pandemonium and hysteria.

POTW week 32
- We had a fine North End dinner with DiMatteo, Elsier and two very ethical gentlemen at the Piccola Venezia on Hanover St. in Boston tonight.
I do have a dilemma though.
~
Elsier brought me a bottle of Lagavulin in settlement of a wager that I had won from him.
~
Does this give him automatic status as a Peep of the Week if I get the Coveted Single Malt as the result of a bet, rather than a gift from a Peep?
~
Definitely worth some pondering.
~
I have to conclude that the receipt of a bottle of Lagavulin, under any circumstances, is worthy of automatic selection.

POTW - Week 32
Don't you think that the year is going by fast? Those late summer crickets are humming away giving a nice rhythm to warm afternoons.

This has been one of the more eventful years for me in some time, and I'm certain that the action will not be slowing down. On the business side especially, things are in a kick ass mode.

I hope your year is shaping up too.

POTW Selections - Week 31 in remote Maine
I know that you think that just because I'm way here up in Maine, that I'll forget to make the Peep of the Week Selections.
~
That is so bogus. Forget POTW??? Not on your life!
~
The thought of your lack of faith stirs anger and other negative emotions. Lucky I'm up here in friendly Maine on my best behavior, or I'd probably do something to blow off a little steam about now.
I have to make the selections now..... I can't waste too much time while I'm out in the field.

Week 30 - Peeps of the Week
It's official.
~
The Nanepashemet POTW logo is established for the ages.
~
I suppose that I should give some credit to Emily Ingardia, even though there is a cloud of suspicion regarding the source of this submittal. I really don't care. Emily had the fortitude to propose the best, regardless of where she stole it from.
~
So Emily is the winner, basking in the sultry glory of her victory. She gets a ride in the Tender on Marblehead Harbor over the holidays, and fifteen minutes alone with Roenick the Cat.
~
I know these prizes seem too generous, but to the victor goes the spoils.
~
Now.... to the all important business at hand.
