Tuna Takes Another Victory

Once more, the Tuna's cheated death. Can you believe we got skunked AGAIN!!!
~
We did everything right. Left Salem Harbor at 5:00 AM with a full moon and calm harbor. Outside Marblehead, the sea was relatively calm with long 6 ft swells that the boat went smoothly over. We were on the NW corner of Stellwagen by sunrise. It was cloudless and beautiful with the dawn sun in front of us and the full moon behind. We were psyched.

Bruett, Mike and Nathaniel put out the squid spreads, and shortly after, we saw a neighboring boat hook up, although we didn't see a fish landed.
~
Then nothing happened.
~
We saw a couple of footballs hit the surface and that's it. Deadheaded for home at noon after 5 hrs. on the bank.

But I saw a large swan swimming at Village Wharf, which to me as a Birder was significant.
Mark Vona was supposed to come, but didn't show at the landing. So we never got to take a picture like this.
~
Don't you think Mark is a big, freaking, show off? Who cares about your, big, stupid tuna.
~
We don't need no stinking tuna!!!

Time to plan a February visit to Bimini for sailfish and boat drinks. Grow a beard and go with the Papa Hemingway look.

Dropped a line in last night, bounced a jig off the bottom, cold, clear, harvest moon, still water. Freakin' awesome.

Time to put the gear away. Next year. . .
